A.L.P.s Discovery Ropes Course
Sunday, June 21, 2009

[carrot & apple]

when: 2days of ropes course (19/6 - 20/6)

where: quebec leisure, costa sands resort (pasir ris)

why: to be trained as a belayer and working in heights

from wearing of harness, ladder set-up to climbing and completing the various high elements was quite an adventure.

Day1: 12 sp campers trainer turned up for the course. Was late by 15mins and was told to write a apology letter. Feeling guility and bad as Sarah was late because of me. no apology letter = no cert = no pay in upcoming camp = we will QUIT. Both of us were really piss with the treatment given, at least for me. I admit that i lack passion in this industry and what i wanted in the first place was just for the experience and fun. In the end both of us decided to be more mature and do everything sui sui one last time for this company, one last camp and end our careers in this industry in a high.

Day2: Was feeling much better, due to the positive attitute in us, all the elements was completed in a breeze. Had a mini ropes test, but i was on form so no worries. But since when, outdoor tests will be marked failure, its the process that counts not the final results. Same as all the elements and activities, success is not when u completed the climb challenges, but rather the process when you work with your team mates and discovering new things about yourself.

At the end of the course, i feel like suppeerrman. When i see high trees, i got the urge to climb them. As chief trainer Jenna said: this course helped us to work together as a team and knowing each other's strength and weakness. This is very important as we will all be working for the upcoming Northland Camp.

On another note, at the costa sands resort, i saw many people coming for holidays and celebrations. The bbq smelled so nIcceeee can. Super envy. I promise myself to open a chalet there for the next holiday. Now whenever i pass-by costa sands resort, i can look proudly at the rope element challenges and say to myself, i once DID IT, nothing is impossible only if you keep trying.

Weimeng walked away feeling a much confident person.

Next up, 1 week of In Camp Training (reservist) at my old home, Seletar Camp. Hope to find back some sweet memorises there, my army buddies wont be there with me this time but i still have other good friends ;)

Petty cash here i come, ready or not. expo popular fair.

To all my mates that did not do well in the exams, please cheer up!

I had a similar experience during poly. I failed 1 freaking module and could not squeeze into the timetable. End up having to retain half a year, that kinda explains why a old man like me is in this bbmkg batch. Feeling of despair, lost of hopes and loneliness became my friends. BUT it sure wake up my life.

I can see that non of you are giving up, positive attitute is the way of life.

Exactly 1month left of Holidays, now play hard and work hard!

Star 1 Kayaking

[bananas & bananas]

After 2 days of sunburns, crazy paddling and seasick we (the 7 sp camper crew) finished the 1 star kayak syllabus.

Learn how to paddle in the correct fashion, stop the kayak, capsize and rescue drills. Looking forward to Star 2 kayaking and expeditions. Guess i need to loose some slack to fit into the dancer (:

One tip for kayaking: always get enough rest and dont club the night before, if not you will get seasick!
